Sifu Bill Reny - Background

Bill Reny, instructor of Wing Chun, Chinese style Kung Fu in Surrey, B.C.Bill resides in South Surrey, B.C. with his wife and three children. He enjoys teaching Wing Chun.

Bill became interested in the Martial Arts as a child, and took classes in Karate and kickboxing throughout his teen years.

After graduating from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, Bill decided that he wanted to resume his training in Martial Arts. He had always been interested in Chinese syle Kung Fu, due to its emphasis both on practical self-defense and on the more purist elements of Martial Arts.

Bill located a school in Calgary, Tiger Claw Kung Fu, led by Sifu Gary Kaiser. After 3 years of group training, and 3 years of personal one-on-one training, Bill received his Black Sash in Tiger Claw Kung Fu.

Bill continued to train Kung Fu, and also attended seminars in Wing Chun, a specific style of Kung Fu.

Donald Mak International Wing Chun, School of Chinese Style Kung FuIn 2000, Bill had the opportunity to move to Hong Kong with his young family. There he enrolled in the Donald Mak International School of Wing Chun. He spend four years training in this style, both in classes and in one-on-one training sessions.

Wing Chun demo in Kowloon Park - Chinese style Kung FuOne of the highlights of this time was conducting a demo in Kowloon Park. Kung Fu and Wing Chun schools from around Hong Kong were invited to participate, and many crowds gathered specifically to see the "gweilo", or white man, participate in such a traditional Chinese sport.

Bill returned to South Surrey in 2004, and opened his own school.
